Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP)

Our DDP service is specifically tailored for families, helping children who have experienced difficult starts in life to develop trust and find comfort in their relationships with caregivers.

What is DDP?

Safe Psychological Space

DDP is a therapeutic approach that centres around creating a safe psychological space where children can begin to explore their feelings and learn to seek comfort and support from their caregivers. This therapy is built on the foundation of trust, safety, and the nurturing of attachment relationships.

Our DDP Approach Includes:

We start by working solely with caregivers to ensure they understand the commitment required to create a secure attachment and are fully prepared to provide the necessary support for the child.

Once caregivers are ready, we facilitate joint sessions where the therapist helps guide a dialogue between the child and caregiver, fostering direct emotional exchanges that are key to attachment.

The core of our DDP practice is the PACE model—Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy. This approach helps the child feel secure and understood, enabling them to discuss and reflect on their thoughts and experiences.
