My hobbies
My life outside the therapeutic space is simple and serene—I cherish quiet moments, whether that’s getting lost in a good book by the fire or wandering through the beautiful Lincolnshire countryside with Milo, our family dog.
The Journey from Psychology to Counselling
My academic journey in psychology began at the University of Leicester, where I graduated in 2006. It was here that I became part of Nightline, a fantastic student-run listening service, which ignited my passion for supporting others. This experience was pivotal; it showed me the profound impact of empathetic listening.
Spotting the Need for Support
Returning to Lincoln, I was struck by the absence of services similar to Nightline at my local university, and more so by the general scarcity of therapeutic services in the area. This gap prompted me to deepen my expertise, leading me to attain a Master’s in Counselling. This further study was the stepping stone to what would eventually become A Different Angle.
The Birth of A Different Angle
In 2014, while expecting my eldest child, I started my practice. It began humbly as a private service but quickly expanded as the need for empathetic, professional mental health support became increasingly evident. The burgeoning waitlist kept me awake at night, thinking about those in urgent need of assistance.
Expanding the Vision
Drawing on my management experience, I made the careful decision to grow our team, bringing on board two counsellors who shared my ethos of high-quality, personalised care. This step was crucial; I needed to ensure that every person walking through our doors would receive the same level of care that I would provide myself.

A Team Fueled by Shared Passion
Now, A Different Angle has grown to include a larger team, each member as passionate as I am about delivering the best possible therapy to our clients. Since our founding in 2013, our goal has remained unchanged: to provide a beacon of support for mental health in our community.
